Who We Are:

The Meriden-Wallingford IPA is a multi-specialty physician organization, formed in 1986 to contract for the provision and management of health care services for health plans, (insurers, PPO’s, HMO’s), Medicare, Medicaid, employee groups, and other contracting agencies.  The Meriden-Wallingford IPA consists of over 250 physicians and ancillary providers, most affiliated with MidState Medical Center, Gaylord Hospital and Masonic Hospital.   

Our Mission Statement:

"The mission of the Meriden-Wallingford IPA is to arrange for the delivery of high quality, cost-effective health care services for the patients in various health plans; to negotiate and manage contracts with managed care organizations on behalf of the members of the IPA and the patients in our community; and, to educate IPA members and their staffs about changes occurring in the delivery and financing of health care services."

Our Capabilities:

Over the last ten years, in addition to contracting, the IPA has concentrated its efforts on developing and managing an array of care and disease management programs designed to clinically integrate the management of patients across the health care continuum.

The MWIPA's NCQA Credentialing Standards enable the IPA to contract with the health plans for delegated credentialing in an effort to reduce duplication, minimize office practice hassles expedite the contracting process.

The MWIPA is also involved in helping its members navigate through the numerous changes occurring in the medical environment.  We provide guidance and expertise in the integration of electronic medical records into the office practice and the connection of these offices to various labs, hospitals, radiology facilities, pharmacies and other practitioners, for the efficient and rapid exchange of information.  The MWIPA is exploring setting up a major Health Information Exchange and is guiding its members through the implementation of the "meaningful use" criteria, mandated by the Department of Health & Human Services.  This will enable members to be reimbursed for the expense of computerizing and recieve increased payments from Medicare and probably other insurers that incorporate these criteria into their pay-for-performance and outcomes-based fee schedule.
